Thought, Word, Action

Some of these posts are born out of the sayings and musings of Adrian Hawkes who led the Rainbow church for many years. He was greatly influenced by George Canty and this snippet captures some of their manner.

Herod “How wonderful a king is born! When you find him let me know. I will also come and worship” Matthew 2:1-10

We think before we speak and act out what we say so that our words are proven true they confirm our thinking. It is incredibly damaging if your actions do not support your words, you are training your mind to lie. If we sing “I will worship the king” then our actions must prove it. If necessary slow the process down, deliberately think about your physical response and plan the action before speaking. You can not fool God only yourself. If I claim to worship the King then I must work out how that worship will manifest itself. Herod’s action proved his heart. Your action will prove yours.

I play a lot of chess, there is a type of game called bullet in which the competitors playing against each other have only a minute to complete all the moves in the game. These type of games are fast furious and often funny.  There is no time to think deeply about the position you have to act without thinking often you will find yourself in a position you do not like. Fortunately bullet chess ends after only two minutes and the consequences are never life changing!
